This makes KONE more efficient, as the time spent by consignments in the logistics network is short – so it takes less time to prepare goods, tools and instruments. KONE is a global technology leader in lifts and escalators. Its intelligent people flows ensure the safe, comfortable and reliable movement of people and goods in and between buildings. In 2022 some 60,000 employees worldwide generated annual sales of 10.9 billion euros, servicing over 1.6 million installations through more than a thousand subsidiaries. Founded in Finland in 1910, KONE is now a listed company.
In Switzerland, KONE has a workforce of around 350. Its headquarters are located in Brüttisellen and it has other sites in Bern, Sion, Lausanne and Geneva.

Efficient technician supplies are crucial to a high level of customer satisfaction
Throughout Switzerland, installation and maintenance work is carried out on lifts and escalators every day. Technicians, who are all active in geographically defined areas, used to collect the spare parts required for repairs from the warehouse, then install them on site. The travel and transportation distances involved took time and delayed the repair work. In addition, the handling and storage of spare parts were highly complex processes, presenting KONE with significant challenges.
The company cooperated with 7Days to develop a logistics solution along the entire value chain. Where parts come directly from Germany, 7Days handles transportation from KONE’s main German distribution centre in Herten and the entire customs clearance process in Switzerland. All spare parts are delivered centrally to Egerkingen. 7Days has also set up a small-parts warehouse specifically for KONE spare parts, enabling it to ensure that they are delivered to technicians throughout Switzerland with short lead times.
Where necessary, spare parts from Germany are consolidated in Egerkingen with those needed from the local warehouse for onward transport. Packages assembled by the technicians are pre-transported to the hubs and on to their unloading points by a highly efficient transporter network. 7Days delivers to specified unloading points, pick-up points or directly to technicians’ vehicles.
